Since graduating from Auburn University in 1992, with a B.S. degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Armstrong Atlantic State University in 1997, Stewart Atkins has become an influential figure in the community for physical therapy services. His commitment to each patient is revealed through his knowledge, experience, skill and professionalism. He is well trusted by many local physicians to provide physical therapy services to their patients because of his unique ability to produce positive treatment results while giving each patient individualized care.

Stewart has been with Professional Therapy Services since it opened, but has also experienced many challenging rehabilitation positions including Coordinator of Physical Therapy for DCH Regional Medical Center and Director of Rehab Services for Bibb Medical Center. He maintained many responsibilities in his career such as program development, staff recruitment and evaluations, as well as business management.

He has also handled day-to-day operations such as supervising patient schedules, personal patient care, marketing, employee evaluations and overseeing nursing homes, home health and acute care for patients. The rehabilitation components which Stewart developed are the “Back to Life” program for post-therapy rehabilitation, protocol for fibromyalgia, arthritis and other degenerative health states. He has also devised a program for aquatic therapy. Stewart has developed highly valuable, specialized skills through advanced continuing education courses including, but not limited to Orthopedic/Sports Therapy, Examination and Treatment of Mechanical Spine, Advanced Evaluation and Treatment of Shoulder/Knee, Advanced Sport Specific Training, Biomechanics and Treatment of Ankle/Foot, Evaluation and Treatment of Dysfunctional Low Back Patients, Manual Therapy, Treatments of Pelvis and Lumbar Spine, Industrial Rehabilitation and Certified in Functional Capacity Evaluation.
